National was established in 1916 and is one of the largest folk dance groups in Gothenburg with about 160 members. Like many other groups, we belong to Folkdansringen Göteborg. We focus mainly on traditional Swedish dances and music, but dances from other Nordic countries and from other parts of the world are also common.
You are welcome to join us as a permanent member, or to visit when you are in town! We dance in Gräfsnäsgården in Slotsskogen. We have groups for all ages.
- From 3 to 6 we have our Knattelag which dances every other Sunday.
- From 7 to 12 we have our Barnlag which dances every other Friday
- From 13 and upwards our Ungdomslag dances every Friday between 18:00 and 20:00
- For adults our Vuxenlag is dancing every Friday between 20:00 and 22:30
- Every other Sunday we dance dances from 1700 to 1900
We can provide public performances and entertainment for special occasions at very reasonable fees, both in Sweden and abroad. Our members are also eager to connect with international groups and enjoy participating in festivals and similar events around the world.
